Cartoon Network Rebrand
Client Cartoon Network
Studio BUCK
Role Creative Director
With its eye on evolving the network, Cartoon Network needed an update that could reflect its expanding content styles to include live-action and movies, as well as appeal to a broader audience of all genders and ages.
BUCK refreshed the brand identity for Cartoon Network, building upon CN's established look and updating it for a new generation by broadening the spectrum of brand colors and blurring the expectations of what viewers can expect to discover on a network previously devoted to cartoons.
The Cartoon Network logo has been broken down to its core elements, the circle and the square, which are now playfully kinetic stand-ins for the logo letters in animation.
Brand typography is Intervogue Alt Black and Alt Bold, fonts that can hold their own with the sturdy geometric logo and perform across surfaces.
The refreshed color palette keeps the iconic Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Still, it adds new colors: Indigo, Rose, and Green, to create a more inclusive appeal.
The robust system of prismatic design and animation enlivens the brand across all surfaces, from the linear network to streaming platforms, apps, websites, outdoor, and more, expressively meeting kids where they are, by celebrating imperfections, individual expression, and collective joy.
